IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN I John Morris of said county being sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God and therefore calling into mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men to die: Do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to say:
First I give and recommend my soul to God who gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried at the discretion of my executors. and as touching such worldly estates where with it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I possess of the same in the following manner:
First I lend and leave unto my loving wife Rebekah during her natural life the plantation whereon I now live with all the land thereto belonging. And after her decease I give bequeath and devise the said plantation and land so far as the main road that leads to Bertie Courthouse unto my son John to him and his heirs and assigns forever And the other part beyond the said road I give bequeath and devise unto my son William to him his heirs and assigns forever
Secondly I give unto my son John my large gun
Thirdly I give unto my son William my small gun to them their heirs and assigns forever
Fourthly I give unto my daughter Mary Stalings one sow and pigs to her, her heirs and assigns forever
Fifthly I give unto my daughter Ann Holms one sow and pigs to her her heirs and assigns forever
Sixthly I give unto my daughter Sarah Farmer one sow and pigs to her her assigns and heirs forever
Seventhly I give unto my daughter Elizabeth Morris two cows and calves and one puter (pewter) dish to be delivered when she arrives at the age of twenty one.
Eighthly I give unto my daughter Jane two cows and calves and one puter (pewter) dish to be delivered at the age of twenty one or sooner if married
Ninthly I lend and leave unto my loving wife Rebekah during her natural life the remainder part of my estate to use toward raising the children and after her decease I give and bequeath the same to my five sons Benjamin Morris Nathan Morris Jacob Morris James Early Morris and Richard Morris to be equally devided among them by my two sons John and William
Tenthly And lastly I appoint and ordain my loving wife and two sons John and William Morris to be the executors of this my last Will and Testament utterly revoking and disannuling and making voyd all other and former Will or Wills by me made
In WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty first day of May One Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty Nine.
