He was born between March 1789 and March 1790 in Thruxton, whichis a small parish very close to Allensmore.

He married Sarah Lawrence in Allensmore on 18/05/1821, whenhe was 31 years old and she 19.

They had children in the following order-

James born in 1823 at Allensmore

John born in 1826 in Allensmore.

George born in February 1828 in Allensmore

Charles born in Upper Bullingham in 1832

Mary Ann born in Upper Bullingham, (near Hereford) in 1835

Emily born in Upper Bullingham in June 1837

Sarah born in Upper Bullingham in June 1839

Catherine born in Upper Bullingham on 30/05/1841 (when Jameswas 51, and his wife 39)

In March 1851 they are recorded on the census as living in MoretonCourt (which is a big place in the centre of the village), Moretonon Lugg (James is now 61). He is a farmer.

He dies at Lower Hill Farm, Breinton Road.


He attends the wedding of his daughter Catherine to John Lewisin 07/04/1868 at Saint Nicholas, Hereford (He is now 78)
In the 1881 census Sarah Lawrence was recorded as visiting herson Charle's house in Hereford = Braenton Road Lower Hill Farm,Hereford (She is now 79) No mention of her husband.

In 1883 Sarah dies at her daughter Mary Anne's house in EignRoad, Hereford, aged 81

She is described as the widow of James Powell, a farmer.

James married Sarah E. Lawrence, daughter of James Lawrence and Elizabeth Morgan, on 18 May 1821 in Allensmore, near Hereford, Herefordshire England. (Sarah E.
