Walter Morris Oakford

Walter Oakford died about three weeks after arriving in Canada. This is a bit from a write up I have on him in my files:
"In April, 1907, the family Walter and Annie, both 29, Jas, 4, Morris, 2 and Dorothy,(inf.) left Liverpool, England and arrived in Halifax, NS on their way to to Stonewall, Manitoba, where Walter's brother Arthur had moved in 1904.
Annie's sister Fanny and her husband George Sloan also lived in Stonewall at that time. On May 20, 1907, approximately 3 weeks after their arrival in Stonewall, Walter Sr. died of scarlet fever. It appears from the old Presbyterian Church records that a private funeral was held because of the contagious cause of death and the fact that all three of the children were also sick. The official record of his death and his tombstone both state that he died May 29, 1907. He is buried in the Stonewall Cemetery Sec. P., Row 2."
Annie went to work for a local widower, Jusan Tenning, and on Feb. 26, 1908, married him.
He had been born in Japan (our family had always said he was Chinese).
Apparently his birthplace was Mie-ken, Japan and his real name was Jujiro Takenouchi, a former Japanese Naval Officer who at some point had been exiled from Japan and had moved to England under the name Jusan Tenning. He had immigrated to Canada in 1904. Jusan and Annie went on to have several children, Stanley, b. abt. 1910, Robert b. abt. 1911, Amy, b. abt. 1913, Elsie, b. abt.
1915 and Margaret, b. ?
The Tenning family moved to British Columbia.

Walter married Annie Taylor in 1901 in Chertsey, Weybridge, Surrey England. (Annie Taylor was born on 3 Mar 1877 in England UK.)
