• Will. WILL OF THOMAS SHERLOCK (Ref: WS 1787) - Father of Esther. In the Name of God Amen, I Thomas Sherlock of Wallazey in the County of Chester, Yeoman, being of Sound mind, and disposition, blessed be God for it, Do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament utterly disannulling, revoking and making void all and every former Will and Wills and do declare this to be my last Will and Testament only - And as to what Worldly Goods it has pleased God to endow me with I give devise and bequeath unto my son Joseph Sherlock. All my Cottage Garden and Premises in Wallazey aforesaid for and during the term of his natural life - Charged and chargeable nevertheless with the following charges and Legacies and from and after his discease then to his first son and his Heirs and Assigns for ever and if his first son die without Issue, then to his Second son and his Heirs for ever and for want of Issue Male to his Daughter or Daughters and their Heirs forever, and if he die without Issue - lawfully begotten, then to my son Robert Sherlock during his life and from and after his discease then to his Issue Male his or their Heirs and Assigns forever and for want of Issue Male to his daughter or daughters their Heirs and Assigns forever, And for want of Issue by Robert then to Thomas Sherlock during his Life and from and after his discease then to his Issue Male, lawfully begotten their Heirs and Assigns forever, and for want of Issue Male then to his daughter or daughters lawfully begotten forever. I also charge the said House, Cottage, Garden and Premises with the sum of Twenty Pounds of Lawful British Money to be paid of my said real estates aforesaid and do order my said son Joseph to pay the same to and be tween my said sons Robert and Thomas Ten Pounds apiece if they come or send to demand the same in the space of two years. I also charge my said real estate with the Probate of this my Will. And if all of my said sons die without Issue lawfully begotten then I give, devise and bequeath my said real Estates unto and among my Daughters Esther Bird, Mary Amery, Ann Amery and Ruth Sherlock, their Heirs and Assigns Share and Share alike. I likewise give unto my said daughter Ruth Sherlock All my Goods, Cattle, Linen and furniture of what kind or nature soever her heirs and assigns free and clear of all and every charge And as to what other personal Estates I have in money, Notes, Bonds or Mortgages or other Securities whatever I giv e and bequeath it all unto and among my said daughters Esther Bird, Mary Amery, Ann Amery and Ruth Sherlock, their Heirs and Assigns Share and Share alike forever, subject to their paying thereout my Burial Expences and also One Guinea apiece to each of my Executors as a token of love and I hereby Constitute, nominate and appoint John Holford Hobrow, Gentleman and Gerrard Stanley of Liscard, Yeoman, Executors of this my last will and testament and I hereby utterly disannul and make void all former Will and Wills by me heretofore made and do declare this my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set and put my hand and seal this twenty fifth day of September One thousand Seven hundred and Eighty Six. Signed, Sealed, Published and Declared to be the last Will and Testament of the within named Thomas Sherlock Testator in the Presence of us John Rainford, John Hasler, Henry Schofield Monumental inscription at St. Hilary's Church, Wallasey states:- "In memory of Esther BIRD, wife of William BIRD of Poolton who departed this life January 15t h 1832 aged 81 years"
