Philip was born on the 4th of July 1927 in Brentford, Middlesex, England. He served in the merchant navy during World War II, and lied about his age to get in. After the war, he became a surveyor.He emigrated to Australia in 1959 aboard the "Fair Sky". He left Southampton port on the 23rd of October, bound for Melbourne. On the ship's passenger list, he was recorded as a 'surveyors assist.' and as residing at '31 Eastcote Ave, Sth Harrow, Middx'. He migrated as part of the 'Assisted Passage Migration Scheme' and was known as a 'ten pound pom'. Philip married Kathleen Prior in 1963 in St Kilda, Victoria, Australia. He passed away on the 25th of August 2013 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
