Edward Cross

Edward was a coachman to a Birmingham manufacturer living in Sutton Coldfield when Fanny died and had to leave his job to look after 3 very young children. He was helped by in laws but Jane appeared and shortly produced Clarence who she registered as Cross. No father mentioned but she claimed previous names as Briggs, Headland and later Lambert who she appears to have married much earlier. A few years later she disappeared taking Clarence up to Wakefield and I found him living there known as Cross or Lambert because his mother seems to have married a Joseph Lambert from Nottingham at some time or other. By pure chance I got in touch with Stanley in Wakefield. Clarence's Son but have lost him again. To make things just more complicated perhaps the 1911 Census has a LAMBLEY with the Crosses in Notts.

Edward married Fanny Hobbs on 30 May 1887. (Fanny Hobbs was born in 1863 and died on 14 Jul 1901.)

Edward next married Jane Briggs. (Jane Briggs was born in 1865 and died on 24 Oct 1905.)
