The older woman, I am thinking, could be either of Donald Hector Mackenzie's grandmothers - Isabella (Morison) Mackenzie or Hannah (Cuttle) Willoughby. The photo is on glass, which I think is called an ambrotype, supposedly used in the 1850s

Isabella married Donald Mackenzie on 4 May 1834 in Poolewe, Rosshire Scotland. (Donald Mackenzie was born on 3 Jun 1809 in Cliff, Poolewe, Archnasheen, Ross and Cromarty Scotland and died on 10 Oct 1860 in Inveralochy, near Goulburn, NSW Australia.) |
