• note. 826 General Notes: Born 3rd of December 1931 Petreborough Soldiers Memmorial Hospital. Started Peterborough Primary School in 1938 in Grade 1, finished primary school in 1944 grade 7. Received attendance certificates for regular attendance in 1942,43,44. Started Peterborough High School 1945 in grade 8 ( First Year ) and finished year 10 ( Intermediate ) in 1947 Dad started in the South Australian Railways in January 1948 at the Peterborough carriage shop as an apprentice carriage builder for a five year apprenticeship. He did the first 3 years in Peterborough but had to go Adelaide to complete the final 2 years. Dad played football and cricket for the local teams. Whilst in Adelaide dad played football for the North Adelaide colts and cricket for Prospect Central he also played tennis for Prospect in division 1. So did mum. He meet and subsequently married Marjory Edith Alldritt on the 11 of September 1954 at the Prospect North Methodist Church. Mum was a typist in the front office at Islington Works. Dad was in the railway unit of the Citizens Military Forces where he attained the rank of Saergent. He worked at Islington for 37 years mostly in the truck yard, in the end as the sub foreman, and then transfered to the carriage shop as sub foreman where he retired on the 27th of November 1987. He worked for a while in Port Lincoln where he and 2 mates built the narrow gauge Comissioner's car. Dad and i played competition tennis for many seasons and had a great deal of fun. 1948 - 1950 27th Infantry Battalion SAR Citizens Military Forces ( CMF ) Cadet 1951 - 1954 Private 1955 - 1959 10th Battalion Driver Private 1959 - 1969 Railway Squadron Corporal Appointed to rank of sergeant, Retired 1970 Engagement with Marjory Edith Alldritt ( Mum ) in the Advertiser 27 9 1952.
