  General Notes:

Paige Whitely (Ancestry) (lpwhitley318) notes:
Hi there! I'm an American working on the Scottish side of my ancestry and I'm tracing Andrew Creelman Fulton (Jr.), originally from Glasgow, Scotland, who emigrated to Australia in the 1860s, dying in Horsham, VIC. He's my 3rd GG-uncle; brother to Janet Fulton, my ancestor.
I'm working on a theory that stepkin already in Victoria (older children of Andrew's father's second wife Mary Jenkins (maiden name Alexander), may have influenced his decision to immigrate there. The two earlier emigrants/stepkin were Robert Jenkins, who is on your tree based in Glenorchy (founder of the Royal Arms Hotel), and his sister Mary Jenkins, who emigrated with her 2nd husband James Stevenson and their children to Australia in Oct. 1852. Robert was a burial witness to James' death in 1876.
My question regards immigration to Australia records from this early time period. How do you know that Robert Jenkins was a convict? This record [New South Wales, Australia, Convict Indents, 1788-1842 for Robert Jenkins
Non-Annotated Printed Indentures 1840-1842] states that the Robert Jenkins convicted on 24 Mar 1840 in Lancaster Assize was born in Flint. Yet his birth certificate states he was born in Barony, part of Glasgow, no? I've also seen a Robert Jenkins who was a bounty passenger arriving via the "United Kingdom" on 7 Sep 1841. I'm trying to figure this out. I've not been able to find Andrew's entry into Australia either, despite a story that he emigrated in the 1860s after a stint running the US Union blockade during the Civil War (and being imprisoned, for which I cannot find records either). (He clearly married in Pleasant Creek/Stawell in 1869.)
Any insight would be much appreciated.

Andrew married Mary Alexander on 23 Mar 1851 in Barony, Glasgow, Lanarkshire Scotland. (Mary Alexander was born circa 1800 in Fintry, Stirlingshire, Scotland UK, christened on 5 Aug 1800 in Cruden, Aberdeenshire Scotland and died on 9 Jan 1863 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire Scotland 373,890.)
