He was born on 26 May 1956 at Ashgrove in Brisbane. He married Colette Paula Truscott (nee Lawless) on 15 December 19084 and they live at 15 Kylie Street, Wembley Downs in Perth. See his autobiography Snakes in the Jungle, Special Operations in War and Business which was published in May 2015 His first name is after his mother's father, and his middle name is after his mother's mother. He lives in Perth as at 27 March 2016 with his wife Colette Truscott. He operates an international Crisis Management consultancy and he remains an avid rock climber.
