Hazel Jean Hehir (nee Johnson), Jan 7 2004, in part:
THE death occurred on 26th November, 2003 at Ginninderra Retirement Village Nursing Home, ACT, of Hazel Jean Hehir, aged 83 years, eldest sister of Jock Johnson (Bombala), Marcie Cowell (Merimbula) and Jerry Johnson (Tathra), and eldest daughter of the late Reg and Vera Johnson of Bombala.
Hazel was born at Candelo on 16th December, 1919, and at the age of sixteen went to work in Canberra as telephonist at Parliament House, a position she held for ten years until her marriage to John (Bon) Hehir following the War in 1945, after which they resided in Bega for about four years, where their first two children were born
In 1949 they moved to Canberra to live, where their other two children were born and after her husband's retirement returned to the south coast and set up home in Monaro Street, Merimbula, where for many years Hazel and Bon were very much involved in the community life of the area, especially the Uniting Church and the R.S.L.
