I remember a cousin telling me that Maria's last name could have been Jennings but I'm not sure if that was proven. I agree that Maria was the mother of Elizabeth Johnson nee Haines. Thomas didn't marry Elizabeth Barkworth until 23 years after Elizabeth was born. Maybe Maria died when the children were young as she didn't appear in the 1828 census, unfortunately we may never know.
