John Woolfolk Burke was a commodes broker in Norfolk, Virginia. He married on April 16, 1900, Laura Wade Gray, born on Nov. 14, 1879, daughter of William Allen Gray (1851-1889) and Sarah "Sallie" Eliza Wade, daughter of Ann Cary Curtis Wade (a line to Captain Thomas Cary, a soldier in the Rev. War).John Woolfolk Burke died in Feb. 1914 and Laura died on Sept. 14, 1959.
John W. Burke and Laura Gray Burke had three sons. Allen Gray Burke, John Woolfolk Burke, and my father, Jourdan Muse Burke, born on July 10, 1911, and died in VA on Oct. 17, 1969. He was in the Army during WW II, but because of a hearing problem, he served in the U.S. where he wrote speeches for some Generals. After the war, he became a Civil Servant for the U.S. Government (a statistician). He married twice. His first wife was Harriett Will Willis who he married on Aug. 31, 1940 in Front Royal, VA. They divorced on Aug. 27, 1951. I was their only child.
William married Sarah Eliza (Sallie) Wade. (Sarah Eliza (Sallie) Wade was born circa 1880 and died on 14 Sep 1959 275.)
