My grandfather apparently had a sister who was brain damaged as an infant called Topsy (I doubt that was her real name). The story was that she was dropped a baby. My dad said that he really tried to get to the bottom of the story when he and my mum married in case it was a genetic issue but everyone was certain that the child had been injured.
