Dr Isidore Maurice Blake was in fact born in Kaira, Bombay, India, 26 July, 1817, the son of Isidore Blake, Lt. 17^th Light Dragoons and Anne Montgomery.

The family left India circa 1821 for England, and eventually returned to Ireland.

I am descended from Winifred Agnes Byrne and Isidore Maurice Blake. The family lived at Yass, NSW in a large regency villa called Shantalla, named after the area in Galway that the family came from. Dr Isidore came to Australia in 1842 on the ship Agnes, as the ships medical superintendent. He settled firstly in Sydney, where he had medical rooms in Macquarie Street and also at Campbelltown. It was in Campbelltown that he fell from his horse in the street and was taken by Winifred back to her home to recuperate. They were married shortly thereafter or so the story goes!

Isidore married Winifred Agnes Mary Byrne, daughter of Hugh Vesty Byrne and Sarah Dwyer, on 8 May 1843 in St Johns Catholic, Campbelltown, Sydney, NSW Australia. (Winifred Agnes Mary Byrne was born on 9 Jul 1822 in Campbelltown, Sydney, NSW Australia and died on 31 May 1892 in "The Hospice", Victoria St, Darlinghurst, Sydney, NSW Australia ⁴⁵⁹.)
