Daniel Maher 732
- Born: Cir 1850
- Marriage (1): Mary Ann Tunny on 3 Sep 1866 in Windsor Registry Office, NSW Australia 732
General Notes:
Jan Abello (nee Milton) notes: Joan Tunny's parents were Walter Tunny and Kathleen Elizabeth nee Peachey. Joan had two brothers: John, Ian (Jerry) and one sister Beryl. Walter was a railway employer at Trangie, his father was Michael Tunny; whose father was Owen Tunny who is a direct line to Gary through Owen's daughter Mary Ann who married Daniel Maher. Daniel Maher is a real difficult one to find, married in 1866 to Mary Ann Tunny. We traced her death but can't find Daniel's death which is a pity as he was the first Maher to arrive in Australia. Daniel was Irish and Mary Ann was born in Australia to Irish parents (both convicts). The Julian/ArthurWilkie death, another mystery. He came over on the Carlotta to Melbourne in 1859, his original name was Augustus Wittke who married Anna Ferry in 1866 (that seemed a popular year for marriages). He was from Prussia and she was Irish, their children were all born Wittke but sometime between 1880 and 1900 the name was anglicized to Wilkie, traced all the family even Annie aka Anna's death but there is a A J Wilkie buried with Annie in 1918 according to the Roman Catholic Office at Rookwood but there is no death for a Wilkie in that year at the NSW BD&M;
Noted events in his life were:
