It is thought that George changed his surname shortly after his marriage to Enid. Her brother was involved in something dodgy. George apparently changed his whole name in about 1929/1930 and moved to Qld in about 1931 .

George married Enid May Fowler, daughter of Harrie Clive Fowler and Vera May Hittman, in 1931. (Enid May Fowler was born in 1911 and died in 1972.)
