• source. Doug Hooper who notes: He enlisted in the 13th reinforcements, 7th Battalion of the Australian Army on 20/7/1915. He served in France and was wounded in action on 19/12/1916. Following recovery from those wounds he returned to his Unit. The folowing January he was back in hospital having his right leg amputated. On 18/2/1918 he was discharged from the Army on the grounds that he was medically unfit. He was granted a pension of 60 shillings per week.
