Gover was always known as Oscar after his uncle Oscar Richard Gover who bought him up after the death of his father John Facey Gover. He served in the Royal Engineers and ended his days at Wittington Barracks Lichfield Staffordshire. He served in Japan and Yemen. His second child a girl was called Adena after his time in Aden. The Gover family came from Plymouth.
