• source. & Doug Hooper who notes: On 2/8/1915 he enlisted in the 19th Reinforcements of the 8th Battalion of the Australian Imperial Forces. He saw service in France and in July 1916 he was wounded in action at Pozieres. He received a gun shot wound to the right thigh. He was returned to Australia and was discharged on 10/6/1918. He was classified as "over age."
