John Medland Hendy was a lace merchant who traded with India, although we don't know if he went there himself. Although he and his wife Fanny Adams Hendy (nee Close) both came from Cornwall and may perhaps have met there, they were married in London at Marylebone Old Church and lived in or around London all their married life. Sadly, John died at the age of 38 and Fanny was only 45 when she died. There is a fine miniature painting of John Hendy in Raymond's possession.
