The military records were updated last year and I have been able to fill in the blanks for Granddad Tom. We visited France and the battlefields this year, he was captured at Ypres 11 days after the start. Fortunately as a regular prior to WW1 stationed in Malta he had the best years of his life. An excellent swimmer, runner and playing football for the Army.
Warwickshire Regiment 1908-1919; 4 years 9 months POW 1914-1919; however survived more than 50 years after his return(about 5 stone in old money apparently) The rest of his life in poor manual jobs, never heard him complain about anything though.
