Samuel Farthing had a baker's shop and grocery in North Barrow. He was aged 47 at the time. He was married in Bristol in 1855 to Charlotte Cooper, born in Lovington on 20 January 1832, daughter of George & Ann Cooper. With them was an unmarried sister-in-law named Mary Cooper, an assistant baker born at Lovington.

Samuel married Charlotte Cooper, daughter of George Cooper and Ann, in 1855 in Bristol, Gloucestershire England. (Charlotte Cooper was born on 20 Jan 1832 in Lovington, Somerset England.)
