Attended Eton \emdash listed as "unplaced" in the 1844 Eton School Lists. In 1847, was in the Remove at Eton. W Harvey Holt emigrated to Queensland in 1852, and married the daughter of John Smith of Llanarth, Bathurst, and Gamboola, Molong, NSW. (Her eldest sister married Sir George Innes, one of the judges in NSW; and two other sisters married two brothers named Barton, who were connected with S M Godshall, formerly of Weston House, Surrey.) William was staying in England on 1 March 1883 for the birth of son GBM Holt
