  General Notes:

Monica Foggin notes:
Jane was born on 8 March 1845 at Brownlow Hill, near Camden. She was baptised on 9 May 1845 in St Andrews Scots Church, which was a long trip from Camden, so there must not have been a church nearby that suited them. Her middle name has been found in different documents spelled as Cormack and as Cormick, so it is uncertain which spelling is correct.
On 18 July 1864, she married Benjamin Fairfax Mann, called Frank, at the Registry Office in Longbottom, now called Concord. He was aged 43 and Jane was only 19, so there was quite a big difference in their ages.
There were 8 children of the marriage. These were Mary Ann, Barbara, Benjamin, Joseph Alexander, Margaret, Christina, Benjamin Fairfax and Joseph Alexander. Of these, 3 died in infancy.
Benjamin Mann died on15 January 1881 and was buried in St Anne's churchyard at Ryde.
Jane had come to know William Swindail, a stonemason who was a workmate of her son-in-law, Robert Hastie. They were married on 26 April 1884 in Holy Trinity CE in Lower Fort St at Milson's Point in Sydney.
Jane and her new husband went to live in Bridge St, now called Pittwater Rd, near Gladesville. There were 2 children of the marriage \endash William and David.
Jane died on 6 August 1914 at 63 Hill St, Leichhardt, aged 69. She had been suffering from pleurisy for 3 weeks and finally succumbed to heart failure. She was buried on 7 August in the Field of Mars cemetery in the CE Section D, Plot 1274.
