First person to serve 50 years service at I & R Morleys, Heanor, Derbyshire as a framework knitter, received a gold watch.
Morley’s factory on High Street, Heanor, was one of the largest employers in Heanor, with over 1000 workers at its height. A throw-back to the old framework knitting days, before industrialisation, Morleys produced knitwear and underwear. Taken over by Courtaulds, and closed in the 1990’s, the premises have now disappeared, and the site has been redeveloped by Tesco
Alma married Lydia Calladine, daughter of George Calladine and Mary Wheatley, 2nd June 1884 in St Pauls, Derby, Derbyshire England. (Lydia Calladine was born in 1866 in Heanor, Derbyshire England, christened 18th June 1870 and died 26th May 1929 in Heanor, Derbyshire England.)
