Susan was adopted out to the Hughes family and consequently married as a Hughes.

Michael and Susan were married with their parents consent. Michael had to convert to be married in the Catholic Church.

Susan married Michael John Brannigan, son of Arthur Thomas (T) Brannigan and Shirley Elizabeth Carr, on 23 Dec 1977 in Catholic Church, Liverpool, Sydney, NSW Australia. (Michael John Brannigan was born on 19 Aug 1959 in Nepean District Hospital, Penrith, Sydney, NSW Australia.)
