- Christened: 2 Apr 1809, St Marys, Whitechapel, London, Middlesex England

- Died: 17 Jul 1892, Waverley, Sydney, NSW Australia at age 84 262
Research Notes:
John Hanna notes: Sophia died in 1871 of "natural decay"--not surprising when she has spent much of her married life in the slums of Lambeth, but George came to Australia when he retired and lived to the age of 84, spending his last years living with his daughter and son-in-law Victoria and William, finally at "Longsight" at Waverley (of which I have photos, including some of the interior). (Many years earlier, William and Victoria Andrew had lived on Parramatta Street--ie Broadway--in a building which still exists. William's draper's shop was just across the road, but it must have disappeared many years ago). I don't know how George managed to do it, but he was eventually able to move his family from Lambeth to the new Kensal Green development, with its homes with red-tiled roofs and a small garden. I have a small package which has been passed down to me and which contains what are--according to a handwritten note on it--some stones from Grandfather Reed's garden--presumably the garden of the property at 2 St John's Road, Kensal Green.
George and Sophia Reed had 8 children. Those who survived infancy were Louisa (1834), Victoria (1836), Kate (1839) and Matilda (1848).
Noted events in his life were:
• Occupation: timber merchant, gentleman. 262
• connection. 1080
