  Research Notes:

Chris Pearman notes:
Here's what I know about James Pearman (1768-?) and a bit more.
He was the elder of two sons to John and Susannah Pearman, baptised at Wisbech Cambridgeshire England (not far from Kings Lynn) in 1768. The other son William (1769) died an infant. I have not been able to trace his parents' history. James married first a lady called Thomasin Newdick in 1790 at Wisbech but sadly she died the following year. He then married Elizabeth Minns on 21st September 1791 at Wisbech. Their son Edward was probably born the same year and later baptised at Kings Lynn on 17th October 1796. According to the death certificate of Elizabeth in 1838, James' occupation was "Sailor". This raises the interesting possibility that James might have served in the British navy during the Napoleonic wars. Like you I have been unable to trace evidence of his death or burial and he could of course have died at sea.
Regarding Elizabeth, she seems to have been widowed by 1803, as there is a marriage noted on 26th March 1803 at Lynn of Elizabeth Pearman, Widow, to William Holly. It seems that on his death she eventually moved in with son Edward and his family and lived with them for some time. The informant on her 1838 death would naturally have thought that her surname was Pearman and this was the name on the register.
The son Edward married Elizabeth Largen at Lynn in 1832, having already started a family with her. Their eldest, James is my ancestor, born 6th October 1827. The 1841 UK census shows young James living with the family at South Clough Lane, Lynn, aged 13. In 1851 he lived elsewhere in Lynn as a lodger. In the early 1850s he moved to Wakefield, Yorkshire and started the Wakefield Pearman dynasty of which I am a current member.
