Ellen was convicted in Roscommon, Ireland and sentenced to 7 years transportation. She was transported aboard the ship "John Bull" arriving in Sydney 18 December 1821. She was described as a town servant with a pitted complexion and dark hair and dark eyes.
The 'John Bull' departed Co. Cork, Ireland on the 25 July 1821. There were 80 femaile prisoners aboard. The ships master was William Corlett & the ships surgeon was William Elyard.

Ellen married William Davis, son of Joseph Davis and Mary Ann Rogers, on 21 Mar 1836 in Richmond, NSW Australia. (William Davis was born on 22 Oct 1809 in Hawkesbury River, NSW Australia and died on 16 Jul 1880 in Bumberry, Central Western Slopes and Plains, NSW Australia.)
