FIFTY GUINEAS REWARD WHEREAS, RICHARD GREENTREE, late of Warblington, in the county of Hants, stands charged with divers Felonies (viz. stealing Horses and Sheep) and whereas a warrant of apprehension has been issued against the said Richard Greentree, who has absconded; a reward of Thirty Guineas will be paid (on application to Joseph Paddon, Esq. Solicitor, Fareham, Hants) to any person or persons who shall apprehend and lodge him in any of his Majesty's Gaols in the County of Hants, previously to the 7th day of March next; and a further Reward of Twenty Guineas will be paid on his conviction. The said Richard Greentree as about twenty-eight years of age, about five feet five inches high, is stoutly made; has short light hair curling in front, and prominent cheek bones; is rather bow legged, and walks with his head constantly drooping on his right shoulder.
Hampshire Telegraph and Sussex Chronicle 10th March 1817 Richard Greentree was indicted for stealing a horse in July, 1813, the property of Charles Poole, at Catherington; the horse was turned out in the Forest of Byre; in a day or two after it was stolen, the prosecutor discovered it working in a cart, on the road, at Romsey Marsh, in Kent, a distance of 120 miles from Catherington. The cart was the property of Robert Staee, a shepherd, who bought the horse of the prisoner, and he would have been apprehended, but he left his residence and could not be found, Guilty Death.
