• source. Doug Hooper who notes: He enlisted in the 19th Batallion of the Australian Army on 14/05/1915. He served in France and sustained a gun shot wound to his left arm and his back on 26/07/1916. As a result, his arm was amputated. He was returned to Australia and discharged on 27/09/1917.

Roy married Elsie M. Dawson in 1910 in St Peters, Sydney, NSW Australia. (Elsie M. Dawson was born circa 1885.)
