• source. Doug Hooper who notes: He was struck off of the list of personnel of the 7/26 Regiment of the 1st AIF as a deserter in 1915. He enlisted in the Army again in 1917 and spent some time in France. He was constantly in trouble for being AWOL and on one occasion was Court Martialled for that offence as well as for stealing from an officer.
