The Protestation Returns for Bishops Nympton list John Pincombe sen, John Pincombe jun, William Pincombe sen and William Pincombe jun. William sen and William jun are father and son. However, John sen is the son of Richard Pincombe and his second wife Francis Gill and John jun is the son of William sen who was a son of Richard Pincombe and his first wife Anne. The Visitation for Devon 1620 dates the arrival of the Pencombe family at North Molton as 1485 arriving with Lord de la Zouch. There are three sons listed for an unknown Pencombe and I am trying to prove that there was likely an older Pencombe with two sons who in turn had the three sons (2 Johns and a Thomas) listed in the Visitation. William one of Thomas' sons had seven sons and two daughters whom he lists in his will.
