I knew nothing of my father's previous marriages, although I suspected, until I started looking into the family history. I knew my father knew the Powell family and one of Gladys' uncles had a farm just up the road from where I lived in Hereford (at Newton Farm) where my brother used to help out at weekends and in the school holidays, but thought he knew them because he had been connected with farming when young. He also spoke of living at Breinton. Warham Court was the other side of the river from Newton Farm. It has long since become a large housing estate.
