Research Notes:
Malcolm Hutton notes: One of my grandmother's younger sisters was Edith Dent of Consett who married Ernest Bonell from Leeds. They had two dress shops in Consett and that is how this current search got started after the shops were discussed in the Consett Heritage Facebook Discussion. Their son Winston Leslie Bonell married Mary Curry in 1939 and I was a 6 year old page boy at that wedding in Castleside. There is a photo including myself in the Newcastle Evening Chronicle 10th August, 1939. (Attached alongside a photo I already had taken on the same day). The small clip I took from a very large wedding group - 1947 and this shows Ernest and Edith Bonell - in fact Uncle Oliver is standing behind them and he is also standing far left in the 1939 photos.
But the marriage didn't last long for Leslie as he was better known died of consumption in 1949. There was a son Leslie E Bonell born in 1947 at Hyde Heath, Bucks and I have just found from FreeBMD that he married an Ann Van Spankeren in Northwich in 1972 and they had children born in Congleton, one just a year before another Bonell also born in Congleton to a Bonell and Meredith.
