William Craig

  • Born: 4 Apr 1822
  • Christened: 18 Aug 1822, High Church, Paisley, Renfrew, Scotland UK
  • Marriage (1): Margaret Arniel on 31 Oct 1840 in High Church, Paisley, Renfrew, Scotland UK
  • Died: Cir 1868, Sydney, NSW Australia about age 46

Noted events in his life were:

• source. Alvin Chapman - chapnode

• emigrated. Alvin Chapman - chapnode notes that they arrived in Sydney on 9 February 1853 on the Beejapore with their four children. There is no evidence that William and Margaret had any more children after their arrival.
William paid 6 pounds for himself and family to come to Sydney. He could read and write while Margaret, Sarah and Thomas could read. The two younger ones, Margaret and Jane, could do neither.
I have not found when the family moved to the Bega NSW area where it appears that William was a farmer. Jane's brother and sisters all married in the Macleay River District. I know nothing more about William or Margaret.
William's parents, Thomas CRAIG and Jean (Jane on the shipping list) BEITH, were deceased and Margaret's parents, John ARNIEL and Sarah GOUDIE, were alive when William and Margaret arrived.

William married Margaret Arniel, daughter of John Arniel and Sarah Goudie, on 31 Oct 1840 in High Church, Paisley, Renfrew, Scotland UK. (Margaret Arniel was born on 8 Mar 1818 and died circa 1854.)
