Some of the children of Phillip and Phebe Lavis are baptised in the Siloam Baptist Chapel in High Ham. Later and probably for legal purposes only they are also baptised in the Church of England Church as well. The baptisms are recorded in the " Register of Baptisms Solemnized by the Bible Christian Minister in the Somerton Circuit"

Marie Virginia Lavis was told by her grandfather Phillip James Lavis (1874-1969) that Phillip was given the name of his father. The Parish records do not confirm this but in 1802 it was not the practice to record such details in the baptismal register.
