  General Notes:

Migrated to Australia on board "Duke of Sutherland" in 1886. Docked in Rockhampton, Qld. Worked in Mount Morgan and met Eliza on Alton Downs Station. First home after marriage was "Happy Thoughts". Later bought more land and moved to "Cleaves
Farm". This house still stands at Alton Downs. All the children were born in Cleaves Farm. Jacob grew wheat, had a dairy and fattened pigs, sold butter and pork at the market in Rockhampton. Entered a ballot for graizing land at Marlborough
Station and won the ballot. Property now known as "Cleethorpes"". This was in 1900. Moved there with his older sons and did external fencing and built the house with the bush timber. In 1911 the rest of the family moved to Cleethorpes.

Eliza married Jacob Handley, son of Michael Handley and Susannah Colam, on 12 Jun 1890 in "Happy Thought", Alton Downs, Queensland Australia. (Jacob Handley was born on 11 Oct 1866 in Northcoates, Lincolnshire England and died on 9 Dec 1947 in "Cleethorpes", Marlborough, near Rockhampton, Queensland Australia.)
