  • Died: Bef 1809

  General Notes:

Chris Wright notes:
"re Thomas Bray - what I register as the birth date was on the microfiche the christening date. Close enough you'd think, except - not all areas had a clergy and were serviced by travelling clergy as and when they came around. Not uncommon for a bunch of kids of different ages to be christened on the same day if the clergy hadn't dropped in for a couple of years. The early records (microfiche) were constructed from the clergy records which only recorded the date the dear little things were saved from the devil.
The clergy also expected to be paid for the day and it was possible that group discounts were offered to the poorer serfs. Also different clergy had different rates so maybe we'll wait for the cheaper bloke to come around.
The date is not a birth date (1709 which I originally had), but a Christening. One would also imagine that perhaps there would not be a lot of money around to pay for a funeral and then a Christening, so perhaps she had to wait until she had the money

Thomas married before 1736.
