An interesting story concerns the family of Thomas's second daughter Jane, who married John Hector Lisson Gorrick on 26/7/1866. John was born at Redfern on 14/4/1845, but dropped the Gorrick from his surname by the time of the marriage. It is necessary to give some genealogical background before proceeding.
Lisson's four grandparents had arrived as convicts. On his paternal line, his grandfather was Thomas Lisson (1792 'Royal Admiral'), and his grandmother was Ann Bradwell (1804 'Experiment'). They were married on 24/8/1804. Ann had left Lisson for Isaac Gorrick by 1811, and bore more children to him. Gorrick himself had married Rebecca Plummer in 1804, whom he also left (she did not die until 1828). In the 1820's Thomas Lisson also fathered more children to an Ann. (Ann his former wife, was too old by then to have been their mother.)
On John's maternal side, his grandfather had been John Yeomans (1791 'Brittannia') and his grandmother was Mary Cassidy (1792 'Kitty'). They had been married in Sydney on 15/4/1798.
John Hector's parents were John Lisson (who called himself John Lisson Gorrick) and Sarah (nee Yeomans).
They were married on 9/8/1828, when the groom was 20. The addition of Gorrick to his name may have come about because he was only about three when his mother left his father (Thomas Lisson) for Isaac Gorrick, Gorrick had probably felt more like a father to the boy than his real father had.

John Hector at the time of his marriage, was living in Underwood Street. Paddington - according to this certificate. It was just around the corner from where Jane was living with her family in Paddington Street. They seem to have been married in a Registry Office, or house, at 41 Burton Street, Sydney, on 26/7/1866. It possibly took place against the wishes of her family, as no family members were witnesses, and it was not held in a church. As five years older than her new husband.
The following year, on 15th August, their first son, Napoleon Jean, was born. Lisson can be a French Surname (generally spelt Lison in France), and the child was probably named after a brother on John's called Napoleon. Next they had a daughter, Napoleone Pauline, and she was born on 20/11/1886. On 7/3/1871 they had a son, Pascal - Monge, and on his birth registration, his father gave his occupation as a "Proprietor of Lands'. He gave their address as the Underwood Estate, Paddington - although a check has revealed that he did not ever own any Paddington land.

In late 1874 the family moved to Noumea, but before leaving, they raised &600 in November, by mortgage on Jane's share in her Grandfather's estate, for passage. [34] Estate proceeds later repaid it.
It appears as if Jane was in ill health by this time. She died on 25th August, the following year, and it was later testified by one of her son's, in the estate hearings, that she had been in ill health for about a year before she died suddenly.
