The Rowe brothers were Cornish tin miners, three of whom came to the Victorian gold fields and did very well for themselves.

  Noted events in his life were:

• migrated. 885 James and Lavinia Rowe and eight children arrived in Melbourne on 29 January 1859 aboard the HMS Black Eagle, a steamer renamed in 1843, originally built and named HMS Firebrand for the Royal Navy in 1834.


James married Lavinia Terrill, daughter of James Terrill and Grace, in 1845 in Camborne, Cornwall England. (Lavinia Terrill was born about 1824 in Camborne, Cornwall England, christened on 27 Mar 1824 in Camborne, Cornwall England and died on 26 May 1895 in Malvern, Adelaide, South Australia.)
