Louisa's immediate family is complex, she was the 3rd child of Nicholas Wratten and his 3rd wife Mary Skewers. The story of her first marriage to Nicholas Payne is a fiction to explain her two daughters, Anne Payne and Dennis Browning, both baptised at Burmarsh in Kent, Anne. I also suspect the surname of her mother in the shipping records "Hammond" may be to hide the existence of her mother's last child, born 2 years after her husband's death.

Nicholas married Mary Skewers / Squer, daughter of Robert Hammond and Ann Skewers / Squer, on 20 Feb 1806 in Lydd, Romney Marsh, Kent England. (Mary Skewers / Squer was born circa 1780 in Broomhile, Lydd, Kent England.)
