Charles St John Barchmans Curry

The place of birth of Charles is uncertain, as no documentary evidence has been found yet. His son Clifford Curry was convinced that he was born in Giddapahar Charles's father was a Tea Planter at Tindharia Tea Estates in the Darjeeling District. His granddaughter Norah Curry claimed he owned this Estate, but again no documentary evidence yet. He did leave a large Villa in the area, "Norah Villa" to his son Charles.
Charles qualified as a Civil Engineer at Sibpore College, Calcutta. He eventually became Executive Engineer PWD, Cuttack. He lived in Jobra, Cuttack, then built a large home "Ranihut" in Cuttack. In his later years he lived with John Upshon and family in Bilaspur.

Charles married Helen Matilda May Marchant, daughter of Charles Arthur Marchant and Mary Jane Connell, on 17 Jan 1917 in Cuttack, India. (Helen Matilda May Marchant was born on 12 May 1895 in Cuttack, India and died on 10 Sep 1949 in Nani Tal, India.)
