Thomas Royle and Betsy Hardman who emigrated in 1848 on the 'Artemesia" They were recruited in Lancashire where they came from, to work in a new mine in Newcastle when the mining was being started there. They were brought out by the AA Company. They had a daughter who was born on the ship and who died in Newcastle a couple of years later.

Thomas married Betsy Hardman. (Betsy Hardman was born circa 1830.)
