James Gordon Williams enlisted in the 7th Battalion Australian Commonwealth Horse for Service in South Africa on the 5/5/1902.
He stated that he was 21 years of age, he was born at Cunnamulla, Queensland and he was a labourer. His address was c/o Mr. Philp, East Holden, Gatton and his religion - Church of England.
The Medical Certificate describes James as:- Height - 5 feet 8 inches, Chest measurement - 33/37
inches, Complexion - fresh.

James Gordon Williams enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on May 5th 1916. His next of kin was his mother Mrs. Annie Williams, Sandlewood, Wallumbilla, Queensland and his occupation was Grazier.
The Certificate of Medical Examination describes James as: -
Age - 35 years, Height - 5 feet 5 and a half inches, Weight - 135 pounds, Chest Measurement - 34/37 inches, Complexion - fair, Eyes - blue, Hair - brown and religious denomination - Church of England. Distinctive Marks - 2 Vacs left, Scar back head, Small finger left hand deformed.
James was sent to Moascar, Eygpt to fight. He was admitted to hospital on the 17/10/1918 with Influenza and discharged back to Moascar on 23/11/1918. He returned to Australia via “Ulimaroa” on the 29/2/1919 and discharged on 29/5/1919.
James received the Star, British War and Victory Medals.


James married Flora Thomson, daughter of William Ogilvie Thomson and Agnes Armstrong, on 12 Sep 1928 in Tibooburra, NSW Australia. (Flora Thomson was born on 17 Feb 1894 in Tibooburra, NSW Australia, died on 29 Jul 1975 in Brisbane, Queensland Australia and was buried in Pinaroo Lawn Resting Place, Aspley, Queensland Australia.)
