Robert was a transport driver in the army during WW2 in the Netherlands East Indies. He arrived back in Australia on 23rd December 1945 on the ship Kanimbla from Borneo. All WA personnel spent ten days in Sydney and then boarded the HMAS Mooltan in January 1946 arriving in Fremantle ten days later. He then worked for the Government Bus Service, retiring in 1977.
