William John was stationed at Darwin in a Signals Unit during WW2. Later he was in the Forts at Albany no longer fit for any tropical service, while there he married Isobel Grant, probably 1945. He then moved to Sydney where Bill had a job in a wholesale grocery store at Burwood. They eventually secured a home at 28 Amaroo Ave, Strathfield. William died of lung cancer on 25/6/1981 aged 70 years.

William married Isabel Signe Grant, daughter of Carl Gustav Hyllengreen Grant and Lilian Mortin. (Isabel Signe Grant was born in 1920 in Perth, Western Australia, died on 7 Jul 2001 in NSW Australia and was buried on 10 Jul 2001 in Bethany Nursing Home, Port Macquarie, NSW Australia.)
