Irene wrote two books that were published. One was the first biography about Prime Minister John Curtin. It was well liked by Mrs. Curtin whose daughter Elsie MacLeod kept in touch with Irene right up until her death.

(Horace Balfour Dowsing was born on 29 Nov 1903 in Port Fairy, Victoria Australia, died on 10 Feb 1961 in Melbourne, Victoria Australia and was buried on 14 Feb 1961 in Springvale Crematorium, Victoria Australia.)
