The Stawell News and Pleasant Creek Chronicle, Tuesday Jan 20 1914. Early on Sunday morning the death took place of Mr. Isaac Smith, a well known and respected resident, the cause being typhoid fever and pneumonia. Deceased, who was 58 years of age had for a number of years followed the occupation of a gardener. He has been in indifferent health for some time, and about a fortnight ago was seized with an attack of typhoid fever, on which pneumonia supervened. He leaves a widow and grown up family. The deceased took a keen interest in the work of the Salvation Army, and conducted a Sunday school class among the children. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon, the coffin being preceded by the Salvation Army Band, while there was a large number of followers. The services at the graveside were conducted by Ensign Adams.
