Early on Sunday morning the death took place of Mr. Isaac Smith, a well known and respected resident, the cause being typhoid fever and pneumonia. Deceased, who was 58 years of age had for a number of years followed the occupation of a gardener. He has been in indifferent health for some time, and about a fortnight ago was seized with an attack of typhoid fever, on which pneumonia supervened. He leaves a widow and grown up family.
The deceased took a keen interest in the work of the Salvation Army, and conducted a Sunday school class among the children. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon, the coffin being preceded by the Salvation Army Band, while there was a large number of followers. The services at the graveside were conducted by Ensign Adams.

Isaac married Sarah Lindsey, daughter of Enos Lindsey and Martha Hutchinson, in 1891 in Ararat, Victoria Australia. (Sarah Lindsey was born on 7 Jan 1854 in Adelaide, South Australia (B1 P116) and died in 1929 in Warracknabeal, Victoria Australia.)
